About the DSO

The Danville Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1967 to serve the East/Central Illinois, West/Central Indiana region. The Orchestra is based in Danville Illinois and offers a subscription season of four concerts, plus two youth concerts for area schools each year. In addition to the orchestra's performances, the DSO also sponsors an annual "Concerto Competition", with the winners being awarded scholarships and an invitation to perform with the orchestra.

The Mission of the Danville Symphony Orchestra is to serve our community and to inspire it to achievement and excellence by presenting music at the highest possible levels of artistic excellence. By promoting music and the arts to the widest possible audience, we aim to support the development and education of young people through exposure to the performing arts.

Our Direction

history

The Danville Symphony Orchestra is a not-for-profit, professional orchestra founded in 1967, drawing its members from Illinois and Indiana. The DSO offers a subscription season of four performances, a free children's concert, and a summer performance as part of Danville's Art In The Park Festival.
