A Tribute to Benny Goodman with the Dave Bennett Sextet
Our 42nd season kicks off with a remarkable tribute to Benny Goodman on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth. 23 year old prodigy, Dave Bennett and his sextet will bowl you over with his phenomenal dexterity and amazing resemblance to Benny's own magical style, last enjoyed in Danville on November 30, 1975!
Enjoy tunes like Let's Dance, Bugle Call Rag, Stompin' at the Savoy, Moonglow, and of course, I've Got Rhythm and Sing, Sing, Sing, all including the wonderful sounds of the Symphony.
"...the closest to Goodman's style and sound of all the major clarinetists of the last 40 years" -- Peter Appleyard (Benny Goodman's vibraphonist 1972-1980)
"Dave Bennett is the next Eddie Daniels ...if Benny had heard this guy he would have had him over to play duets. -- Bucky Pizzarelli (guitar legend of the NBC Tonight Show Orchestra and Goodman band member 1966-1986)
